10 Most Stunning Comic Book Movies Ever Made

One of the most faithful page-to-screen adaptations the comic-book genre has to offer, Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez's neo-noir anthology work is effectively an act of cinematic mimicry, recreating panels from the former's original graphic novel with breathtaking detail, down to the last drop of blood; a rendition that the latter even referred to as a "translation" more than anything else.

But it's hard to not be swept up by just how utterly arresting their endeavours are. Rodriguez, pulling double duty as cinematographer, should have been in the awards season hunt in earnest for his work here, with its distinct, colour-leached vistas gripping in their shadowed intensity. It's arguably the director's most distinct work - and his most eye-catching to date too.
