10 Most Stupid Characters In Classic Horror Movies

7. Sleepy Hollow - Brom Van Brunt

Tucker And Dale Vs Evil
Paramount Pictures

In Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow, Ichabod Crane becomes the unwitting subject of Brom Van Brunt's ire upon meeting Katrina Van Tassell. Crane is there to investigate some beheadings, but Brom's only concern is intimidating the inspector because he received a look from his woman.

To this end, he dresses up as the Headless Horseman to intimidate him, which isn't stupid — it's just mean! Regardless, the man is all about defending his honour and protecting the people he cares about, which is how he ends up getting into trouble with the real Horseman about a week later.

The Horseman rides into town to slay the Killian family, and after that, he turns to leave. Brom runs to the trouble and shoots the Hessian with a musket. He then presses his attack, but ends up getting hit with the handle of the Horseman's sword.

Undeterred, Brom grabs a pair of sickles and makes for the Headless Horseman once more. Seeing this, Ichabod implores Brom to stop since the Horseman wasn't interested in him. Crane realizes that he only harms the people he's there to kill, but Brom won't listen. He engages the Horseman once more, and is bifurcated for his trouble.
