10 Most Stupid Characters In Classic Horror Movies

8. Scream 4 - Kate Roberts

When you're being chased by a killer, there are a few things you should and shouldn't do to avoid becoming their next victim. Some are more obvious than others, but it's generally considered a bad move to stop and let them catch up to you. It's even dumber to turn your back on them.

In Scream 4, a particularly stupid decision is made by a character who clearly had never seen either a slasher film or chase movie in her life. Sidney and Kate are running away from Ghostface, which is fine — that's just what you do, but they run into a house.

That's not stupid, and it does offer some security, but they weren't especially safe either. Once they get into the home, the door is shut and locked to keep the killer from getting in, and the two women take a moment to catch their breath.

For some reason that defies all common sense, Kate leans with her back against the door, which is the only thing between her and the killer. She saw a door, the audience and the killer all saw a door with a mail slot. A quick stabbing motion later, and Kate learns a lesson in how not to survive a horror movie.
