10 Most Stupid Decisions In Horror Movies

6. Handcuffs - The Descent Part 2

Pathe

As much as it would be preferable to pretend that this dire sequel to one of Britain's greatest horror outputs doesn't exist, it's presence is inescapable, creating a whole new film off the back of the American ending rather than sticking to the gruesome fate of Sarah in the full, true finale.

In any case, since The Descent is definitely a forerunner for bad decisions, the sequel follows up in excellent fashion on that point alone. Originally, one character condemned her friends to death by taking them to go caving in an unknown system and not telling anyone where they'd be - a pretty big and obvious mistake there really, since it got cut off from the surface and filled up with evil goblins.

In The Descent 2, after discovering said goblin-creatures lovingly named crawlers, a police officer decides to handcuff Sarah to himself so he doesn't get left behind. Bad move when you're trying to wrangle yourself through a cave system, but even worse when manoeuvring from monsters in tight spaces.

Of course, he ends up being attacked, falling off a ledge, and has his hand cut off to protect the rest of the group from the crawlers. A stupid decision made right, in the end.
