10 Most Terrifying Christmas Horror Movies

With his jovial laugh and love for handing out presents, Santa Claus is the most non-threatening character in popular culture - which is exactly why turning him into a bloodthirsty killing machine makes for a ridiculous amount of fun and the perfect premise for a holiday horror.

While there are plenty of Santa slashers out there (this isn't the only one that'll appear on this list), none are quite like Dick Maas’s 2010 Dutch dark comedy Sint.

Taking place on Sinterklaas Eve (a major celebration in the Netherlands that takes place on December 5th), this wickedly wonderful stocking stuffer sees the figure of Saint Nicholas twisted into a bishop who takes pleasure in killing children instead of giving them presents. Murdered for his evil actions in the 15th century, he swears to return each time a full moon coincides with this holiday. And unluckily for his soon-to-be victims, a full moon is set to light the skies during this year’s festivities.

Masterfully blending fast-paced action, pitch-black comedy, and heart-pounding terror together into one package, this lesser-known cult gem has something that every horror fan can enjoy this Christmas.
