10 Most Terrifying Horror Movie Swimming Pool Scenes
4. Let The Right One In
Based on John Ayvide Lindqvist's 2004 novel of the same name, 2008's Let the Right One In is a masterpiece of a movie.
Part chilling horror film, part heart-warming romance tale, Tomas Alfredson's 1980s-set picture focuses on a shy, bullied, lonely 12-year-old boy who strikes up a friendship with a vampiric child.
And if anything, the Let the Right One In movie actually surpasses its source material, with some of the darker, gory elements of the novel ignored in order to shine more of a spotlight on the actual relationship between Kåre Hedebrant's Oskar and Lina Leandersson's Eli.
One moment that does particularly amp up the horror of Let the Right One in, though, is a scene where the elder brother of one of Oskar's bullies forcefully holds the youngster underwater for three minutes.
While the audience's view is largely on the submerged Oskar here, we soon start to see ripples in the swimming pool's water. Not just ripples, mind, for they are followed up by moving legs, a severed head, and a ripped off arm - as it becomes clear that Eli has arrived on the scene to stop this bullying in the most brutal of ways.
