Having spent ten years in development by the time it finally hit the screen, Johannes Roberts' The Strangers: Prey at Night took its 2008 predecessor and moved the horror to a neon-drenched trailer park.

This time out, it was a family unit headed up by Christina Hendricks and Martin Henderson who found themselves in the crosshairs of Man in the Mask, Pin-Up Girl and Dollface. And after Hendricks and Henderson's characters are offed midway through, it's down to Bailee Madison's Kinsey and Lewis Pullman's Luke to put an end to the masked trio's tirade of terror.

The film's final acts sees Kinsey have a memorable face-off with Man in the Mask, with Roberts' paying homage to John Carpenter's Christine with an explosive finale. Before that, though, Luke finds himself having a particularly painful face-off with that same villain - with Pullman's character stabbed and left for dead in a swimming pool.

It's fair to say that that pool scene is likely the absolute highlight of the movie, with Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart blaring out as Luke kills Pin-Up Girl before being confronted by an axe-wielding, infuriated Man in the Mask.
