The Strangers: Prey at Night may have sadly split opinion amongst horror hounds, but that doesn't mean the trio of Man in the Mask, Pin-Up Girl and Dollface remain one of the most fascinating propositions in modern horror.

What makes this triumvirate so twisted and chilling, is the fact they have zero motivation for targeting those who end up in their crosshairs. As is detailed in 2008's The Strangers, the reason why poor Kristen McKay and James Hoyt were brutalised in that first film was for the simple fact they were home.

For Kristen and James, they made the mistake of answering their door when somebody knocked - and that somebody happened to be one of three killers looking to have some murderous fun.

This same plan of attack was likewise utilised by Man in the Mask, Pin-Up Girl and Dollface in 2018's Prey at Night, with the three happening upon a trailer park that they decide is the next ideal locale for them to get their kicks at.

It's the sheer randomness of their attacks that make the Strangers such a scary threat, and its that randomness and lack of reasoning that warrants them an inclusion on this list.
