9. Paul Bettany - Legion & Priest
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qv77IgYHOk Paul Bettany seems to enjoy playing religious zealots, given that he's played them in The Da Vinci Code, as well as the considerably lesser films Legion and Priest, but in all three of these films - specifically the latter two, as his role is far more action-orientated - Bettany just fails to believably play the badass action hero that he is clearly supposed to be. Whether it's his hair-do, his overly kind face, or his relatively diminutive stature, there's just not a minute that we think of him as an intimidating or "built" character, and given how awash both of these films are in cheesy CGI, the film never really gives us much of an opportunity to see him in action. It's all wire-work against green-screens and flying rather than much in terms of martial arts or hand-to-hand combat. Bettany is a likeable actor, but he'd do well to stick to the more dramatic roles he's so adept at.
