2. Transformers 3: Dark Of The Moon

It has become almost sport to make fun of the Transformers franchise. With Director Michael Bay continuously falling back on the same lazy stylistic and narrative devices and using product placement in the most blatant ways imaginable, it is easy to see why his films have copped their fair share of flack.

While it was tempting to place the brilliant original Transformers movie on this list, there is enough love for that entry to not have it labelled as under-rated. The third entry though is criminally under-rated, too often thrown in alongside the genuinely awful Revenge of the Fallen and The Last Knight.

The film is definitely far too long and Megan Fox's 'hot female' replacement, Rosie Huntington-Whitely, lacks the charisma and likability of her predecessor. The first half of the film is a little sluggish and exposition heavy, but the second act is one pulsating, sustained action piece that refuses to let up.

The Transformer fight scenes are epic in scale again, with the carnage of downtown Chicago is a sight to behold. There is also a decent human villain with Patrick Dempsey shacking off his 'McDreamy' persona as evil Deception agent Dylan Gould.

If you're happy to turn your brain off and patiently wait for the climactic battle, there are plenty of rewards to be had, in particular the demolition of a skyscraper by a Decepticon with our heroes inside. And any film that features the voice work of Peter Cullen, Hugo Weaving and Leonard Nimoy can't be all that bad.
