9. The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 74% SpongeBob Squarepants hasn't felt particularly relevant as either a franchise or as a cultural touchstone for a good number of years now, so there was little riding on the success of The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, which - admittedly - felt a little late to the game upon arrival. But SpongeBob isn't ready to bow out yet, apparently, as witnessed by this unexpectedly charming and genuinely funny feature length outing. What could have been a misfire of the highest order actually explodes with all the creativity and energy of the cartoon series on which it was based, as the gimmick of the film - that SpongeBob and friends are able to enter the "real" world - gives it a new burst of life. Best of all, you don't really need to be familiar with Bikini Bottom and such to enjoy this spin-off feature, which stands on its own two feet as a hilariously surreal, gag-packed solo outing.
