10 Most Useless MCU Villains So Far

9. Lizard

When Spider-Man: No Way Home trailers confirmed that there would be at least five villains playing a part from across the two previous Sony iterations, fans had every right to be worried. The ghost of Spider-Man 3 and its antagonist problem seemed to be returning.

Of course, No Way Home was a far better movie than the third in the Sam Raimi trilogy, but there was one villain that suffered in particular. Was there really any reason to bring Dr. Curt Connors back, or was it literally a case of making up the numbers?

Norman Osborn and Otto Octavius had clear roles to play in the movie, and while Max Dillon and Flint Marko’s stories may have been shaky at the best of times, at least they had a story. Lizard’s only real impact on the movie was his fight with Doctor Strange, and that happened off-screen.

If you were to remake No Way Home in exactly the same way, only without Rhys Ifans’ presence as Lizard, there would be absolutely no difference. He offered no threat, no jeopardy, and you wouldn’t have really noticed had he not been there.
