10 Most Useless MCU Villains So Far

Eternals had a tough job when it was released in 2021. Even with its ridiculously long run time, the second longest in the history of the MCU behind only Avengers: Endgame, introducing the concepts of Celestials, Eternals, and Deviants proved too much to ask.

It was the latter that suffered the most, as the other race the Celestials sent to Earth ended up being some of the least developed antagonists in the history of the franchise. This was particularly frustrating, as there was so much potential here.

There was one Deviant in particular who evolved throughout the movie, going on to steal the powers of Ajax and Gilgamesh. This allowed him the ability to heal, gave him more strength, physically changed him, and gave him a conscience.

However, the very next target he challenged once with the ability of real cognitive thought was Thena, who killed him with barely any effort. What was the point? Why even bother to build the character up to evolve in such a way if he was going to be killed immediately? The writers could have eliminated this entire part of the narrative and produced a far more concise and less painful movie.
