The first glimpse we got to the Marvel conclusion they’d been building for more than 10 years, opening with Tony Stark’s Iron Man helmet severely damaged from his clash with Thanos in Infinity War, is officially the most viewed movie trailer in the first 24 hours of release with a staggering 289 million viewers. Fans were so interested and invested in what was next for the Avengers after the crushing defeat to Thanos that a good chunk of the population watched this trailer immediately after it was uploaded online. Most wanted to really know the title, which had been a huge discussion point since Infinity War the year prior. The title Endgame being a reference to a bit of dialogue between Iron Man and Doctor Strange in the film.
If this is the most popular trailer of all time then it’s fitting that Endgame is the highest grossing film of all time with an unbelievable worldwide gross of $2,797,800,564. Future Marvel films like Spider-Man: Far From Home and Black Widow haven’t been able to come close (understandably) to the millions of viewers who watched the first Endgame trailer. Many fans and critics praised the trailer for feeling as cinematic as possible without giving huge details away.
