10 Most Viewed Movie Trailers In First 24 Hours Of Release
6. Avengers: Infinity War Trailer #2 – 179 Million Views
Captain America and Black Widow arriving in Wakanda, Iron Man and Spider-Man meeting the Guardians in space and a flashback showing Thanos and a young Gamora captured viewers' imaginations and fandom with the second Avengers: Infinity War trailer. The beginning of the end for the first part of the MCU gained a massive 179 million views in its first day. It helped propel Infinity War to break Fandango’s pre-sale records for superhero movies and AMC Theatres to sell more tickets within 72 hours than any previous superhero movie in America. It would go on to become the highest-grossing film of 2018 and the fourth-highest-grossing film of all time.
This trailer took over pop culture, with the complexity of the plot and Thanos and his Black Order’s unstoppable momentum being key talking points. It’s understandable why so many people clicked on this trailer, with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige previously suggesting that some of the superheroes may not survive this battle (turning out to ultimately be true) with the Mad Titan backing up this claim in the trailer. Gamora confirmed Thanos wanted to destroy half the universe (by collecting the six almighty Infinity Stones) to bring it into balance.
