Exploitation supremo Jesus Franco does cannibal movie to not very pleasing effect. A group of thugs kidnap a model who is filming in a South American jungle - the thugs abuse and molest her, but soon fall prey to a cannibalistic native tribe whose god is a big brute of a man with ping pong balls for eyes. Lucio Fulci movie regular Al Cliver is the best thing about Devil Hunter (that and the scenery, which is authentic jungle). There are also no animals being gratuitously killed, which is pretty unique for a film of this ilk. There is the customary sex and sleaze from Franco, which should make it an exploitation cannibal classic, but the film is simply boring instead. Heavy ingestion of beer might render it more hilarious.
My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
