10 Most WTF Movie Scenes Of 2025
1. The Jimmy Savile Gang - 28 Years Later
And finally we have the single most divisive ending of the year - the utterly bonkers finale to 28 Years Later that nobody saw coming.
After young Spike (Alfie Williams) says tender farewell to his late mother Isla (Jodie Comer), he delivers the uninfected baby back home and ventures out to the mainland by himself.
28 days later, we see Spike get cornered by a group of the infected, only for his bacon to be suddenly saved by a group of tracksuit-clad martial artists who are not-so-subtly modelled after disgraced TV presenter and sex offender Jimmy Savile.
The gang flips around and slices up the infected with bladed weapons all while a heavy metal cover of the Teletubbies theme plays - calling back to the opening scene where the Teletubbies were shown.
The leader of the group then introduces himself to Spike as Sir Jimmy Crystal (Jack O'Connell), the very same boy we saw during the film's grim prologue set 28 years prior.
It's an ending that bewildered just about everyone, some finding it so tonally dissonant as to derail the tension up that point, while others respected that Danny Boyle and Alex Garland took such a wild swing.
If nothing else, it'll certainly be interesting to see how this thread is picked up in 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple - that there's a gang wandering around the apocalypse styling themselves after a children's entertainer whose transgressions they're presumably oblivious to.
