10 Mouth-Watering Movies Stuck In Development Hell

9. Shane Carruth's A Topiary

wrrw Shane Carruth made one of the most famously perplexing movies of all time with his sci-fi film Primer in 2004. After the success of that film, Carruth tried his best to make a film called A Topiary which was to be another movie in the same genre. Fellow director Rian Johnson called it "a mind-blowing sci-fi script. Let's all pray to the movie-gods that he gets it made soon." While all the descriptions are fairly vague, it sounds as if it would have been an extremely interesting film but unfortunately, Carruth was never able to get the funding necessary for it. Since his second movie Upstream Color comes out this year, it appears A Topiary had been abandoned which is a shame given the current lack of original sci-fi films. Who wouldn't want to see another sci-fi movie from the guy behind Primer?

I love movies, literature, history, music and the NBA. I love all things nerdy including but not limited to Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, and Firefly. My artistic idols are Dylan, Dostoevsky, and Malick and my goal in life is to become like Bernard Black from Black Books. When I die, I hope to turn into the space baby from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
