4. Halo
Despite never playing Halo for more than a few minutes and not actually knowing what the series is about, there would be few announcements that would get me more excited than a Halo movie. The games all look visually fantastic and some of the promotional trailers, especially the one directed by Rupert Sanders, are pretty intense. For a while it looked as if there would be a tentpole adaption of Halo, produced by Peter Jackson with first Guillermo Del Toro and later Neil Bloomkamp attached to direct. Unfortunately production on the film stalled and despite interest from several other directors, including Steven Spielberg, it looks unlikely that the movie will ever be made. Despite the potential for one of the most epic science fiction films ever made, it would take a director who had the time, inclination, and the passion to actually get project off the ground.
