Despite being one of the most fascinating Americans of the 20th century, Martin Luther King Jr. lacks a major film biopic of him. Despite the interest from directors ranging from Oliver Stone, Jonathan Demme, and most recently Paul Greengrass and Lee Daniels, a potential movie simply hasn't materialized. Most of the trouble has come from the family who (understandably) aren't too keen on the movie being made. However in 2009, permission was granted to Dreamworks studios to procede with a film adaptation of King's life however, the studio dropped the film after objections were made to the script of both Greengrass's "Memphis" and Daniel's film "Selma" over what some saw as inappropriate changes to King's personality. Despite the setback, Paul Greengrass seems confident that the film will eventually be made and hopefully the film will adequately showcase one of the most interesting public figures of the 20th century.
