10 Movie Actors About To Play Totally Against Type

2017's Jumanji "sequel" offered up a unique acting challenge to its central A-list cast, to embody the personalities of the young players transported into their larger-than-life avatars.

The obvious highlight was Jack Black having to act out the persona of a vapid teenage girl, but from what we've seen of Jumanji: The Next Level so far, it looks like Dwayne Johnson might steal the show this time around.

In the first film, Johnson had to play nerdy loser Spencer (Alex Wolff) inside the avatar of mighty archaeologist Dr. Smolder Bravestone, but in the sequel, the human inside of Bravestone will be Spencer's cantankerous grandfather Eddie (Danny DeVito).

Basically, The Rock gets to play Danny DeVito, which not only sounds like an incredible acting workout for Johnson on paper, but looks absolutely freaking hilarious from what we've seen so far.

Johnson may be an easy charmer, but nailing the precise tics of any actor, especially one as unique as DeVito, sure isn't easy. It'll certainly be an interesting change-up from both the first Jumanji movie and his more familiar Action Guy roles.
