10 Movie Actors Who Did Career WORST Performances In 2020

It doesn't get any worse than Iron Man giving a dragon a colonoscopy.

Though 2020 has been an especially tough year for everybody, it's done little to change the brutality of Hollywood, whereby careers can be made and torn down because of a single movie role.

Actors can get a rocket strapped to their backs after one firecracker performance, or end up in the straight-to-VOD dungeon after one egregious, high-profile misfire.

This past year, these 10 actors - all of them extremely talented in their own right, many of them even major award winners - turned in the worst performances of their entire careers.

That isn't a claim made lightly, because even the best actors have a couple of dud performances in their cachet, but these actors went below and beyond to turn in the most disreputable work they've ever done.

Whether well-intended bids for Oscars, blatantly lazy paycheck roles, or completely misguided attempts to do something different, these performances all fell painfully, embarrassingly flat.

In some cases they might signal a career that's on the skids, while in others they'll hopefully be nothing more than temporary, if humiliating, blips...

10. Judi Dench - Artemis Fowl

Judi Dench is a mighty pillar of the film industry and one of the most reliable actors to ever grace the screen with their presence.

And though some might argue that the Oscar-winning Dench delivered the worst performance of her career with her Razzie-nominated turn in last year's Cats, you can at least tell she was trying to make that misguided mess of a movie work. It failed, but not for her or anyone else's lack of trying.

The same can't really be said for Artemis Fowl, which was dumped on Disney+ this past summer and, to the surprise of few, received a brutal drubbing from critics.

The consensus was that not a single member of the film's distinguished cast could elevate the material, with many noting that even the usually committed Dench couldn't bring herself to put much effort in.

As Commander Julius Root, Dench basically mumbles her way through her role with a ridiculously gruff Batman voice that's impossible to take seriously.

It's a miscalculation on Dench's part which in addition to rendering her performance laughable makes it difficult to concentrate on what she's actually saying.

Hopefully she at least got handsomely compensated for her time, because this was depressing to watch.
