10 Movie Actors Who Did Career WORST Performances In 2020

2. Robert Downey Jr. - Dolittle

It's easy to appreciate that Robert Downey Jr. wanted to do something totally different after finishing up his tenure as Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame, but did it really have to be...Dolittle?

Much has been written about the film's extensive post-production issues, but that changes nothing about the fact that Downey's performance, as conceived and performed, is an embarrassing shambles.

Right out of the Johnny Depp school of weird accents, the MCU star adopts an unconvincing Welsh twang to play the storied veterinarian.

Given how much of his dialogue is only spoken off-screen or with Downey's face obscured, however, it's clear that an attempt was made to tidy things up with ADR during post.

Despite going big and wacky, it's a performance thoroughly bereft of charm, culminating in the unforgettable, traumatic sequence where his Dolittle administers a colonoscopy to a dragon, pulling out bagpipes and a suit of armour in the process.

Watching Downey suffer through the prolonged gust of a dragon's fart is as spectacular a fall from grace as any actor took in 2020, and though there's little argument about his talent, Dolittle also got his post-MCU career off to a worrying start indeed.
