10 Movie Actors Who Did Their Best Work On TV
4. Amy Adams - Sharp Objects
If you could judge a person's Hollywood status based on their award recognition, then Amy Adams would be just on the cusp of being one of the best. She's an endlessly talented performer with six Oscar nominations to her name. While she hasn't won any yet, you can't deny that she is worthy of that prestige.
She has a seemingly never-ending supply of films that showcase her talents, with some of her best performances coming from flicks like Doubt, American Hustle, The Fighter, Arrival and Junebug. But, despite her undeniable movie credentials, it's her role in Sharp Objects that shows the depths of her talent.
Sharp Objects (based on the book written by Gillian Flynn) was a passion project for Adams, as she also acted as executive producer. You can see that dedication in her leading performance, as she's personable, believable and nuanced in the role of Camille Peaker.
The show sees Adams playing a psychologically damaged reporter who returns to her hometown to cover the murder of two children. It's a tense and dark ride, carried wonderfully by Adams' erratic and chaotic performance. While Adams has gone for darker tones before, this HBO miniseries is, without a doubt, the farthest she has ever gone.
