10 Movie Adaptations That Should Have Been TV Shows

2. The Hunger Games Series

Following the huge financial success of Twilight and Harry Potter, there have been a number of young-adult books that have been adapted into movies. In addition to the Divergent trilogy, both The Maze Runner and Percy Jackson have also made it onto the big screen. However, none of these were as successful as The Hunger Games.

Thanks to some solid screenplays and great casting choices, Suzanne Collins’s dystopian trilogy was easily the most commendable of the many young-adult movie adaptations throughout the last decade.

As successful as the films were – both critically and commercially – this dystopian story is better suited to the small screen.

The novels were particularly good at immersing the reader in the arena. When reading these sections, you really felt the scale and longevity of Katniss’s experience. The movies, on the other hand, never quite managed to create such an atmosphere.

With a television show, Katniss’s battle for survival could have been far more engrossing if shown across a number of episodes, which would have allowed audiences to really feel the weight of her task.

Love to read and write. Have an unhealthy obsession with Harry Potter. Enjoy running up hills.
