10 Movie Adaptations You Already Know Are Doomed To Disappoint

Another Stephen King adaptation, another 2017 flick to be worried about.

If you've read It, arguably one of King's greatest novels (and definitely one of his longest: have you seen the size of the freakin' book?), you'll know that there's a hell of a lot of material to squeeze into one film. As with The Dark Tower, one can't help but feel as though this would've served better on a platform like Netflix, made in the vein of Stranger Things.

It would not be impossible to make a good movie, of course, though the fact that this has been bouncing around the studio system doesn't ease any concerns fans might be having about quality. Finally, It landed in the lap of filmmaker Andres Muschietti, who helmed the average horror yarn Mama back in 2013. It could have been worse: the studio could have hired a Kevin Greutert type to direct instead.

Apparently this film is set to be a Part 1 of sorts, but whether not not they opt for Part 2 presumably depends on the box office takings. Here's hoping for a surprise success, but considering the troubled development process - and the sheer number of directors who ultimately passed on the project - there's good reason to be nervous.
