10 Movie Adaptations You Already Know Are Doomed To Disappoint

Some movies have the inherent whiff of disaster about them, and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword fits the bill. Surely this is primed to wind up as one of the most underwhelming adaptations to hit cinemas in 2017?

Turning to this popular if not oversubscribed tale feels like Hollywood at its most desperate. People love Game of Thrones, right? Well, they're bound to love this as well, aren't they? Let's get Guy Ritchie to do it, too, 'cause didn't he do those middling Sherlock Holmes movies? They were English and made loads of money!

And yet has anyone stopped to consider that King Arthur and Guy Ritchie are not alike? That there's no real reason why these two things were supposed to come together - the cinematic equivalent of eating a hard-boiled egg floating in a bowl of milk. Oh, sure, it will have visual flair and some fun one-liners, but what we've seen so far in the frankly crazy trailers feels like a hodgepodge of other, better things (Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones) and other, very awful things (Warcraft, Dungeons and Dragons).

2006 called, Guy: it wants its movie back.
