8. Why Does Emmett Cullen Carry A Bag Of Eggs? - Twilight
The Question:
Back in 2020, some 12 years after the release of the original Twilight, a clip from the movie went viral on TikTok when one user pointed out that vampire Emmett Cullen (Kellan Lutz) could be seen carrying a Ziploc bag of hard boiled eggs around the cafeteria because... reasons?
Actor Lutz, clearly getting a kick out of the mystery, summarily refused to elaborate.
The Answer:
It fell to Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke to finally spill the beans, then, as she did in a frankly hilarious interview with Insider last year. She revealed that Lutz was simply carrying the eggs around on set and she decided to incorporate them into the scene:
"I saw Kellan one day carrying a bag of, like, one dozen hard-boiled eggs... I'm like, 'What in the hell is going on? You're not going to eat like a dozen eggs, are you?'... I never had seen anybody carrying around a Ziploc bag of one dozen eggs and going to eat them all day long... I was just laughing so hard... I'm like, 'OK, [Emmett] has to have those eggs. You have to carry that in that scene,' because it was just outrageous. So that was really it, just a super quirky detail that the real Kellan was doing."
Hardwicke added that Lutz was most likely carrying the eggs around to supplement his protein intake given the intense regimen he was on to play the hunky vampire. Even so, what a wild ride.
