10 Movie Auditions You Would Not Believe
1. Bill Nighy Looks Good In Heels
Bill Nighy is known primarily for his weighty roles in some truly great movies like Pirates of the Caribbean's notable Octo-villain, Davy Jones and Love Actually's fading rockstar Billy Mack.
It will give respite to actors everywhere to know that however ridiculous or embarrassing you feel your audition went, it will probably never be quite up to these standards of out-there.
When auditioning for an unnamed feature at 47, Nighy was urged to wear, in his words "tight hipster loon pants, four-inch fake alligator platform heels, a top that did not meet my trousers, eye make-up and hair extensions." Couple this with a rendition of Deep Purple's Smoke on the Water and it's probably understating things to say this was an audition for the ages.
Nighy stated "After all that you really want to go home" but nevertheless this audition didn't derail his career and, if anything, makes us love him even more. He can count himself lucky that no one was there with an Instagram account or this moment would have been immortalised forever.
