10 Movie Cameos Actors Hated

9. Michael Shannon - The Flash

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Captain Carter

Despite Michael Shannon's General Zod being killed off in Man of Steel an entire decade ago, the actor reprised the role in The Flash, courtesy of the movie's time-travelling shenanigans.

Shannon played Zod once again for a few minutes in the film's third act, with him and his army serving as the primary obstacles for the Barry Allens (Ezra Miller), Batman (Michael Keaton) and Supergirl (Sasha Calle).

Yet as won't surprise anyone who's actually seen the film, this was basically an easy paycheck role for Shannon, and days before The Flash was even released, the actor held nothing back in detailing his distaste for the part. He told Collider:

"Yeah. I'm not gonna lie, it wasn't quite satisfying for me, as an actor. These multiverse movies are like somebody playing with action figures. It's like, 'Here's this person. Here's that person. And they're fighting!' It's not quite the in-depth character study situation that I honestly felt Man of Steel was. Whether people think that's crazy or not, I don't even care. I really felt like Man of Steel was actually a pretty sophisticated story. I feel like The Flash is too, but it’s not Zod's story. I'm basically there to present a challenge."
