10 Movie Characters Killed Early In The Sequel

4. Roxy - Kingsman: The Golden Circle

Kingsman: The Secret Service follows Eggsy, from his criminal beginnings to becoming a fully initiated member of the secret society by the end of the movie. Another character who follows this path is Roxy, though without the criminal background.

Roxy has a big part to play in the first movie as both Eggsy's friend, and as an integral part of the final plan. Yet in The Golden Circle, after seeing her as a Kinsgman agent, now under the codename Lancelot, she is blown up along with the building, the rest of the Kingsman agents, and Michael Gambon.

Unfortunately, there simply wasn't room in the sequel for Sophie Cookson's character, especially with so many new characters from Statesman to introduce. They all needed enough screen time to develop, and Roxy was a necessary sacrifice in order to achieve this.

This also left Eggsy and Merlin completely alone and in need of help from their American cousins. Another example of a character's death being necessary in order to progress the story.
