10 Movie Characters Killed In Reshoots
7. Dr. Loomis - Halloween: The Curse Of Michael Myers
If you know anything at all about the sixth Halloween film, The Curse of Michael Myers, you'll be aware that its production was a big 'ol mess, with the original cut being received disastrously by test audiences.
The original version of the film, now referred to as the Producer's Cut, saw Michael Myers (George P. Wilbur) pass the Curse of Thorn - the curse which drives him to kill - to his long-time nemesis, Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence).
However, this cut of the movie was excoriated by test audiences, reportedly said to consist primarily of teenage boys, and so a round of extensive reshoots was conducted many months later.
Sadly by this time the great Donald Pleasence had passed away, and so the production was at something of a loss when deciding an alternate fate for his character.
As a result, Loomis semi-randomly disappears out of the film at regular intervals, and one of the new scenes concocted in reshoots was the very final scene, where we linger on a shot of Michael's mask as Loomis can be heard screaming in the background.
The implication is very clearly that Michael kills Loomis, even if it's unavoidably unsatisfying that we never actually see this due to Pleasence's passing. It's certainly a damn sight better than having him be possessed, though.
