10 Movie Characters Pointlessly Forced Into Sequels

4. Han Solo - The Force Awakens)

Han Solo is a rogue and a smuggler. Or, rather, was. He died at the end of The Force Awakens. But if it had been up to Harrison Ford, he would've died before that, a long time before that.

Originally, Solo was supposed to die during Empire Strikes Back. Ford wanted him to die during Return of the Jedi. Harrison Ford only returned for Episode VII knowing his character was going to beef it at the end.

But there's no point for him to be in The Force Awakens anyway. He doesn't do much, aside from serve as a nice reminder that the real reason this film exists is nostalgia.

In a movie attempting to establish a whole new generation of heroes, it feels like Han Solo was given top billing. The movie seems like - and rumors has it - it was written for the newer heroes to get more of a spotlight, and at some point someone decided this should be the Han Solo hour. At least he won't be forced into another sequel. Probably.
