10 Movie Characters That Were Written Out In Dumb Ways
5. Martin Brody - Jaws: The Revenge
Martin Brody was one of the main characters in Jaws. When a series of shark attacks plagued Amity Island, Chief Brody teamed up with Hopper and Quint. Despite little to no sea experience, Brody was determined to stop the Great White. During the film's final events, he managed to blow up and kill the shark; ending its reign of terror.
Jaws 2 saw the return of Brody as he faced off against another shark. He sailed the seas to rescue his two sons. This time around, he lured the predator into a live wire which electrocuted it. The third film, Jaws 3D did not feature Brody but rather his sons, Michael and Sean.
Jaws: The Revenge, however, explained that the good Chief died before the events of the film. Michael Brody revealed that his father died of a heart attack. Martin's widow Ellen, however, said that he died out of fear of sharks.
It is explicable then that a man who took down two sharks, died supposedly fearing them. While Roy Scheider probably wouldn't have saved the fourth entry, the reason for his demise is one of the film's terrible decisions.
