10 Movie Characters Who Actually Knew When To Quit

5. The Malfoys - Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 2

Psylocke X Men
Warner Bros.

At the end of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2, once Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) has seemingly killed Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) with the Killing Curse, he implores all those assembled at Hogwarts to surrender to him.

At this point, Lucius (Jason Isaacs) and Narcissa (Helen McCrory) Malfoy call their son Draco (Tom Felton) to join their side with Voldemort, and after some brief consideration, he reluctantly complies.

This union ends up being short-lived, though, as once Harry reveals himself to in fact be alive and starts summarily kicking Voldemort's ass, the Malfoys all decide they shouldn't stick around to see who wins, and are promptly seen briskly leaving the area to parts unknown.

It's of course entirely in character with the self-serving Malfoys to act this way - to bet on a horse and abandon it the second the chips are down.
