10 Movie Characters Who Got Undeservedly Brutal Deaths
4. The Guy In The Nightclub - Irréversible
Method Of Death
Skull smashed to pieces.
Why It Was Undeserved
Gaspar Noé's Irréversible is one of the most disturbing and controversial films ever made, and if its 10-minute, single-take rape scene doesn't make you sick, its opening murder sequence certainly will.
Noé's film unfolds in reverse, with the "climax" taking place first, as Marcus (Vincent Cassel) and his friend Pierre (Albert Dupontel) head to a nightclub called The Rectum to avenge the rape of Marcus' girlfriend Alex (Monica Bellucci).
The pair are looking for a figure called Le Tenia (aka The Tapeworm), and after a confrontation with who they believe to be Le Tenia, Pierre has his arm broken and is almost raped.
Marcus then intervenes, beating the man to death with a fire extinguisher, his skull becoming more distorted and disintegrated with each strike, leaving behind a gaping hole where his face used to be.
A brutal revenge for a brutal rape, right? Except, if you're paying attention to Alex's rape later in the film, this clearly wasn't the man who abused her, and the actual rapist is stood directly next to this man in The Rectum.
It's not so much that the guy they murdered seemed like an upstanding individual in any way, but if you're gonna cave someone's face in with a blunt object, you need to be really sure about it.
