10 Movie Characters Who Got Undeservedly Brutal Deaths
3. Randy Meeks - Scream 2
Method Of Death
Stabbed repeatedly.
Why It Was Undeserved
The wise-cracking film buff Randy Meeks (Jamie Kennedy) is pretty much everybody's favourite character in the Scream franchise, because in addition to being hilarious, he's an endearing, sex-starved nerd who in many ways feels like the audience surrogate.
Fans were distraught, then, when Randy gets offed totally out of nowhere mid-way through Scream 2, in broad daylight no less.
After being taunted on the phone by Ghostface that he'll never be the hero, that comes to unfortunate pass as Randy is dragged inside Gale's (Courtney Cox) van by Ghostface and viciously stabbed four times, flooding the van with blood.
Everything about this scene was executed for maximum shock value and disgust, and given how day-time is so often a "safe" period in horror movies, having Randy be brutally dismantled on a crowded college campus really threw viewers for a loop.
Clearly Wes Craven and co. realised their mistake in killing Randy off, though, as he made a beyond-the-grave appearance via VHS message in Scream 3.
