10 Movie Characters Who Just Needed To Listen To Reason

7. Lightning McQueen - Cars

Rocky IV
Pixar

Lightning McQueen is arguably one of the most popular characters Disney and Pixar have in their locker. They have built a huge franchise of movies, TV shows, video games, and merchandise around Owen Wilson's race car, but he wasn't always so likable.

In fact, when McQueen was first introduced to audiences in Cars back in 2006, he was insufferable. As an arrogant wonderkid when it came to racing, McQueen couldn't be told anything. Even when The King (Richard Petty), the greatest to ever do it tried to give him some advice, he daydreamed through the entire conversation.

In his rookie season, he had the chance to do what no one else had ever done and win the Piston Cup at the first time of asking. Had he actually listened to his pit crew, and changed his tires at least once throughout the duration of the 400 laps, he would have made history. Instead, racing on just one set from the get-go, he blew two tires and ended up in a three-way tie.

Had he just let his crew do their job, he would have won. Of course, you could argue that he would never have ever gone to Radiator Springs, met Sally (Bonnie Hunt), Doc (Paul Newman), and Mater (Larry the Cable Guy), and become a much better person in the process, but if you want a much more cynical way to look at the movie, you could say he would have avoided being held hostage against his will and succumbing to Stockholm Syndrome.
