10 Movie Characters Who Just Needed To Listen To Reason
2. Nick, Kurt, & Dale - Horrible Bosses
When you look at a cast of characters that includes Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, and Charlie Day, it's a reasonable response to assume that the former would be the more sensible of the three. That is exactly the case in Horrible Bosses.
The three friends all hate their jobs, and more specifically their bosses. In a drunken conversation, Kurt (Sudeikis) gets behind the idea of killing them, while Dale (Day) joins in the next day. It's down to Nick (Bateman) to tell them what a ridiculous idea it is.
Most people don't like their jobs, maybe not quite to the exaggerated extent of these three, but at numerous points throughout the process Nick told his friends how stupid this was. When they thought they contacted a professional hitman, and with every different idea they had, it was Nick who spoke as the voice of reason.
Of course, he was completely ignored as it wouldn't have been much of a movie if he hadn't been, but ultimately even Nick didn't listen to his own advice. In spite of the points he made against hiring someone to kill three people, he still found himself taking the lead on negotiating such a contract with MF Jones (Jamie Foxx).
