Everyone knows the Superman story by now; humanoid alien is sent to planet Earth by his family, when his home planet Krypton was destroyed, to enable him to live on and carry Krypton's legacy. He looks completely human but, under Earth's yellow sun, he gains vast superpowers such as massive physical strength, incredible speed, immense durability, flight, x-ray vision and heat vision. The man of steel has been portrayed on the big screen by George Reeves, Christoper Reeve, Brandon Routh and, most recently, Henry Cavill and is always depicted as blending in to society as an ordinary man - Clark Kent - whilst also possessing abilities far beyond those of an ordinary man and using them to fight for the forces of good.
