10 Movie Characters Who Returned Way More Badass In Sequels
4. Gandalf - The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers
Gandalf The White is the ultimate poster boy for coming back stronger. He's like the opposite of resurrected characters in Pet Sematary and Game Of Thrones who lose something when they return from the dead, in that he's basically evolved through being killed. Which is handy, given how important he is in the effort to save Middle Earth.
In the first Lord Of The Rings, Gandalf is a mild-mannered, drug-smoking, kindly old wizard, who delights in entertaining young Hobbits and joining in their festivities. He even claims himself to be not a man of action when Frodo challenges him on his part in Bilbo's encounter with Smaug, despite later proving himself very useful in combat.
But after he dies, Gandalf returns far cooler and edgier, to match his all-white outfit and much-improved hair condition. He seems more intent on taking the fight to his enemies and more powerful thanks to his rebirth and he very definitely earns some badass points for his cool entrance in Fangorn Forest.
