10 Movie Characters Who Should Never Have Died

8. Ray Arnold - Jurassic Park

John Hammond's genius coder on Isla Nublar, John Raymond 'Ray' Arnold spends the majority of Jurassic Park helping the film's main characters navigate their way across the island and is the instrumental key in beginning to undo the damage left by Dennis Nedry's thieving.

Having initially been against the idea, Ray is the guy behind the complete shutdown of park operations once things begin to array in the T-Rex paddock, and does actually manage to get everything back live again.

Ray then sets off on his lonesome to the island's maintenance shed and isn't seen again until Ellie goes out looking for him. The iconic and infamous scene of his decapitated arm suddenly dropping onto her shoulder is one of the film's best, and is a brutal showing of the power a Velociraptor possesses.

Given that Ray is one of only four named character deaths on the island throughout the film, there's definitely an element of unluckiness about how he goes down. A classic case of being killed off purely because he is not as major as the other characters left standing, Ray probably should have been able to navigate a way off Isla Nublar.
