10 Movie Characters Who Should Never Have Died
2. Jack - Titanic
Pure and simple, we all know there was enough room on that door for these two lovers.
The leading character in the world's most expensive and highest grossing film of its day, Jack is introduced as a poor but honest and likeable guy who wins two tickets for a voyage on the Titanic through a game of poker. He meets the upper class but kindhearted socialite Rose on the ship and the two quickly fall in love.
Whilst audiences naturally know the fate of the doomed voyage, the whole film dangles the potential for a happy ending for the two characters right in every frame as they choose to ride out the disaster together, and overcome several obstacles as the ship begins to sink. Reaching the ship's deck, Jack helps Rose onto a wooden board and promises that she will get through this safe and sound.
He isn't wrong either, with Rose living a long life after the Titanic's sinking. The same sadly could not be said for Jack who dies of hypothermia, still clinging onto the wooden board. There have been countless memes on the subject now, however it's true that there's really no reason why Jack had to perish from this situation.
