10 Movie Characters Who Should've Died (But Didn't)

6. Whistler - Blade

The Dark Knight Rises Christian Bale
New Line Cinema

Blade's mentor, partner and surrogate father originally died during their first movie together, in one of its most affecting, effective sequences. Although we would have loved to see more of Whistler the grizzled badass, it completely fit the story and character that he should go out like so, giving motivation for one of Blade's infamous rampages.

Unfortunately, the character proved so popular that the filmmakers had to bring him back for the sequel, resurrecting him - albeit as a member of the living dead.

While it's undeniably a kick to see Whistler back in action again, he hangs around Blade II like a spare part, the story and action barely ever justifying his presence. And then they went and undid it by killing him off all over again in the almost universally loathed Blade: Trinity.
