10 Movie Cliffhangers That Were Ignored In The Sequel

9. Mitchell Carson Escapes - Ant-Man

Though Ant-Man is largely accepted to be a "lesser," more lightweight entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, its ending did leave one noticeable narrative thread dangling - one that still hasn't been resolved to this very day.

In the film we're introduced to former SH.I.E.L.D. member Mitchell Carson (Martin Donovan), who now works as a HYDRA agent and wishes to acquire the Yellowjacket shrinking tech.

In the movie's third act, we see Carson escape amid the ongoing carnage at Pym Technologies' headquarters, taking with him one of the Yellowjacket particles and scarpering into the night.

Though this seems fairly significant - enough for director Peyton Reed to linger on it, anyway - Carson was nowhere to be seen in sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp.

More to the point, he's never re-appeared in any MCU media, whether movie or TV show, and given that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania wrapped shooting several months ago, it seems like he won't be appearing in that either.

Considering the obvious chaos Carson could cause by having access to a Yellowjacket particle, especially if he's able to duplicate it, it's pretty ridiculous that this cliffhanger has never been resolved.
