10 Movie Deaths That Ruined Your Childhood
1. Mufasa - The Lion King
Mufasa is an obvious choice for this list, because honestly, the only thing worse than having your beloved father die is watching him die brutally and then having a trusted adult tell you that it was all your fault. Ouch.
But really, the part of this scene that really sells it is not watching Mufasa fall to his death after Scar basically pushes him off a cliff. It's Simba going over to his limp body, tentatively trying to wake him up, then more and more frantically.
Because Mufasa is one of those fathers, those wise and seemingly invincible guys that you just can't ever imagine dying. His presence in the film is so larger than life that his sudden absence leaves a huge, unfillable hole.
Then, as though we all weren't distraught enough, Simba begins to cry and slides his tiny little body underneath his father's paw, seeking a comfort that he knows deep down he will never experience again.
God, how is this movie for children???
