10 Movie Deaths That Ruined Your Childhood

2. Cedric Diggory - Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire

When you look back at the Harry Potter franchise, there's a very clear delineation between the first three films and the rest that followed. The first ones are light (well, lighter) and they are played for relatively low stakes.

Then Goblet of Fire comes around and everything starts to get real very quickly.

Because Goblet of Fire is the first one that actually kills someone. And what's more, they kill a kid. Suddenly. Without warning. Without reason. Just because he happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. It's shocking and you almost don't think it's real because Cedric Diggory is such a nice person, kind and honorable, and what kind of movie is this anyway?

And if the death scene wasn't enough, you then have to endure his father's heartwrenching sobs, and Dumbledore's eulogy about him to the rest of the students. (Which, to be fair, is a lot more impactful in the book, but still).

Cedric Diggory, man - it just comes out of left field and you are in no way emotionally prepared for it.
