10 Movie Deaths That Ruined Your Childhood
9. Bing Bong - Inside Out
So this one may be a bit of a cheat. After all, it only came out a few years ago and certainly didn't ruin my particular childhood. But it did pack a punch right in the gut with Bing Bong, and there will now be a generation of kids in late elementary school who are emotionally ravaged by this death.
Bing Bong is the sort of annoying imaginary friend of Riley, who has been left to wander around her subconscious, not a part of her life anymore, but also not completely faded away. That is, until he pairs up with Joy and ends up in the memory dump, where things are forgotten, never to return.
And it's there, in that dark pit of dimly lit memory balls, that Bing Bong makes the heroic choice to sacrifice himself so that Joy can escape: he pretends to climb on the wagon rocket behind Joy, gently whispers that he knows it will work this time, and lets her fly away, leaving him to the abyss of forgotten memories.
And it's... it's rough. Poor Bing Bong.
