10 Movie Deaths That Were Supposed To Be WAY Better
6. Parker - Alien
In many ways the brilliance of Ridley Scott's Alien is in its minimalism, particularly as it pertains to the central kills, which are often horrifying in their ambiguity.
This is particularly true of Lambert (Veronica Cartwright), whose death was originally filmed to be far more elaborate, with revealing shots of the Xenomorph attacking her, but which was ultimately cut down to be more vague and suggestive.
Parker (Yaphet Kotto) is also killed during the same sequence, his head destroyed by the Xenomorph's powerful inner-jaw.
But several prior versions of Parker's death were conceived, including a horrifying one where, after killing Parker, the Xenomorph uses his body as a shield while Lambert attempts to incinerate it with her flamethrower.
Parker's body allows the Xenomorph to step through the flames unharmed and make short work of Lambert.
Both versions of the scene are good, no doubt, but Parker being burned to a crisp after already having his head hollowed out is just that much more unsettling, while further demonstrating the Xenomorph's feral intelligence.
