10 Movie Deaths We All Wanted (But Never Got)
1. Nurse Ratched - One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
When we consider that Netflix created a series based on the backstory of this character, we can accurately gauge just how big of an impact Nurse Ratched had on the world of cinema.
Not many would envy her job as the head nurse in a psychiatric facility - there are sparingly few jobs that could be considered more challenging and mentally draining - but we'd like to believe that no one would wield their authority with an iron fist quite like Ratched.
Although R.P. McMurphy is reprehensible for the actions that landed him in the hospital in the first place and arguably deserves harsh treatment, it is how this tyrannical healer carries herself with the other patients that do genuinely need help and treatment that is despicable.
She acts with such disdain towards every one of them. If she feels her authority is threatened she will strip away privileges, but should anyone step too far out of line then she will subject them to the inhumane electroconvulsive therapy.
The final straw for McMurphy is when Ratched's actions drive his friend Billy to suicide. After McMurphy's failed attempt to strangle her, she had him lobotomised, meaning he lost his ability to speak or move.
A fate worse than death ordered by the one we wished had died. What a cruel ending.
